Our foundation

The values that shape how we work and who we are.

These are not aspirations. They are commitments: to the people who will trust us with their data, to each other, and to the work itself. We wrote them down so we can be held to them.

01

Trust

Trust is a courageous payment in advance, and the integrity to pay it back. This works in both directions: towards and from the people who use what we build, and towards and from one another on the team.

02

Transparency

Proactive honesty about things that matter, things that are difficult, and things we would rather avoid. It is the tool that keeps quality alive over time, and the foundation of a healthy culture around failure and error.

03

Accountability

The obligation to own the results of our actions and to explain them. Fully, honestly, and without deflection.

04

Respect

Accepting the boundaries and values of someone else, and actively choosing to be held accountable for honouring them.

05

Honour

A decision that informs our actions and words, so that what we do and say shows others they are valuable.

06

Grace

Two ways of seeing the same truth:

The assumption that someone did their best, and showing them understanding from that place. Jupp
Even when you know they did not do their best, showing them understanding anyway. Tim

In practice

A value you cannot point to in the code is just a poster on a wall.

Transparency is why our privacy page says what we have not built yet. Respect is why photos are never read as a signal about how you felt, and why nobody in your pictures is ever identified. Accountability is why we name the risks in our own plan rather than waiting for someone else to find them.
